Just got a question from a student in a RefWorks class held last week on how to access the Write-n-Cite utility at home without using the group code.
On many UU-computers the Write-n-Cite utility that lets Refworks communicate with Word is already installed. When working off-campus you have to install this tiny program first from the RefWorks site at:
http://www.refworks.com/Refworks/WNCDownload.asp
But you're not fully there yet. After installing go to start|programs|refworks and start the WNC Proxy Configuration Utility and enter this URL:
http://131.211.208.19/login?url=https://www.refworks.com/Refworks/?WNC=true
Now, when starting Write-n-Cite (the red icon in your Refworks prgram group under start|programs) you will be promted first to log in with your Solis-ID/studentnumber and then with your RefWorks username and password.

When following this procedure (which is a bit different for Macs), the program still does not work. Maybe this has to do with Snow Leopard (for Mac Versions)?
I've been told that RefWorks will come with a new WNC version for the Mac. It has (at last) single document formatting and is hopefully ready for Snow Leopard.
Thanks for writing the blog, the articles make many things a lot clearer.
It appears as though the group code is required when logging in to obtain the RefGrab-it bookmarklet. This group code is apparently sent upon registering with the program but I can't seem to find it in my e-mail. Is there any way to obtain this group code (again)? I could send an e-mail from my solis-account to verify that I am indeed a UU student.
Many thanks in advance!
never mind, I did find the plugins and bookmarklets... appears they just don't like Chrome! Now if only I could fix that my footnote-life would be so much easier...
Geweldig, Jeroen, Ook voor Mac (idd nog ouderwets geen snow leopard) werkt de url perfect en kan ik nu vanuit huis citeren. scheelt weer een tripje amsterdam-utrecht. dank,
