Some users report failure when trying to add or move references to another folder. RefWorks tells us that this is a known issue when using Internet Explorer under Windows 7, but also under other Windows versions (XP and Vista).
There is a way to solve this and that is turning on the so-called compatability view in Internet Explorer. This can be done by selecting Compatability view under the Menu option Tools.

IP Authentication failure
Today IP-authentication for RefWorks seems to fail. This means that even when you use a university computer and visit refworks.com or want to use Write-n-Cite you will be prompted for the groupcode. This code has been sent to you when you first made a RefWorks account. If you lost it, please contact the library RefWorks has been contacted to get this sorted out.

Problems with manual input using Internet Explorer 9
When using IE9 you may encounter problems entering references manually. To solve this you have to activate the compatability view of the IE9 browser. You can do this by clicking the broken document icon that is in your browser's address bar. Alternatively you can avoid these problems by using another browser altogether (e.g. Mozilla Firefox, Chrome or, on an Apple computer, Safari).

Maintenance Thursday night Jan. 26th-27th
In the night between Thursday and Friday 26-27th January RefWorks will carry out maintenance on the Utrecht University database. This is in order to solve recurring access and performance problems. It is planned between 0:00 and 3:00 AM and should not take longer than 45 minutes. You will see a maintenance message if you try to log during these hours.
UPDATE: Apparently it is taking RefWorks much longer than expected to reset the servers our database is running on. As soon as we have more information we will get back to you.
UPDATE 2: RefWorks seems to be up and running again. UU staff and students: please inform us (bibliotheek [at] uu.nl) and RefWorks of any remaining performance issues.
Problems seem solved
Problems with accessing accounts and slowness now seem solved. If you still encounter problems please contact RefWorks helpdesk at support [at] refworks.com or (for UU students and staff) the library at bibliotheek [at] uu.nl
